Radar Target and ECM simulators come in a variety of sizes, functions and forms. There is no fixed definition and set of differences between, for example, what we call a “Radar Target Generator” and a “Radar Environment Simulator”, though there is some general consensus of what each of these products are and how they are used. Radio Frequency Simulation Systems, Inc. (RFSS) specializes in the design of high fidelity, wide band (200 MHz IBW to 1.5 GHz IBW), high bit count (10 bits to 16 bits) Digital RF Memories or DRFM. These DRFMs are also used by RFSS in a wide variety of applications including Radar Target Generators (RTG), Electronic Counter Measures (ECM)/Target Generators, Mark X & Mark XII IFF Simulators, and Radar Environment Simulators (RES) for tactical, testing, and training applications. These DRFMs are the “heart” of complex and sophisticated RF simulation systems used to test a wide variety of active radar sensors and systems.
